Electricity consumption of Singaporean households reveals proactive community response to COVID-19 progression

The file below contains the codes that were used to generate the results in the paper "Electricity consumption of Singaporean households reveals proactive community response to COVID-19 progression" [1].

Data File

The data file 'Code_Singaporean_COVID19_response.zip' contains the following information.

The following MATLAB scripts are presented:

  1. Preprocessing_weather_data: Pre-process the weather data.

  2. Classify_households: Classify the 10,246 households by dwelling type.

  3. Load_data: Load the required data for analysis.

  4. Correlations: Determine the correlations between the COVID-19 case data in Singapore and the peak aggregate electricity demand.

  5. VEC_model: Analyse the VEC model for various time periods, for the aggregate demand of the 10,246 households.

  6. Rolling_window_VEC_model: Perform a rolling-window analysis of the VEC model for the aggregate demand of the 10,246 households.

  7. Rolling_window_VEC_model_classwise: Perform a rolling-window analysis of the VEC model for the aggregate demand of different dwelling types.

In addition, the daily new and recovered COVID-19 cases reported in Singapore and used in the study are presented in Covid_cases_Singapore.xlsx.

  • The electricity consumption data used in this study are obtained with approval from the Energy Market Authority, Ministry of Trade and Industry Singapore; contact ema_enquiry@ema.gov.sg for access.
